Donald Trump (New York, 1946) is the 45th President of the United States. Real estate Tycoon and a high profile figure amongst New York’s jet-setting elite, he hit the headlines after his candidacy for presidency within the Republican Party. Riding on the hostility towards the former administrations’ policies, and basing his campaign on economic protectionism and the opposition to illegal immigration, Trump won the Grand Old Party nomination. Then he was elected president, against all odds, in a surprise victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
