Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a country in southern Asia which occupies the former Pakistani territory of West Bengal, an integral part of British India which was then assigned to the Muslim republic  as an enclave, notably distant from motherland. Bangladesh obtained independence in 1971, following a long period of war against the forces of Islamabad, who acted with unheard of ferocity, resulting in a mass genocide and the deaths of over a million  Bengalis. The support of India was decisive in obtaining independence for the small but highly populated country which remained for years, trapped in a state of underdevelopment. An important part of the western textile industry, Bangladesh has managed to develop thanks to the microcredit programs of Muhammad Yunus and the recent reforms of current prime-minister Sheikh Hasina who has led the country since 2009.
